Wednesday 07 December 2011 11:58:00. This image can be dated exactly to September 1913, when the vehicle pictured was on a three day trial at East Surrey from the Daimler company. It had already been sent to various operators around the country. On the Saturday of the trial this bus had taken 33 shillings more than average in fares on the Bletchingley route, and as a result the directors decided that all new buses should be of the double deck type. Five Daimler chassis were subsequently ordered at ?540 each. |
